Restoring Our Shores: A Triumph After the Storms

Our Regional Cleanup last Saturday began chilly and muddy, but our dedicated volunteers came ready to make a difference. Our teams focused on Terra Ceia Bay and the Manatee River with the goal to tackle the “big stuff,” and we certainly delivered—we removed 3.5 Tons of Marine Debris filling up multiple dumpsters!!

We uncovered an astounding assortment of items including a refrigerator, furniture, dock pieces, an outboard motor, a port-a-let, and “Florida Snowballs” (giant styrofoam chunks) along with numerous bags of smaller debris. One team tackled what remained of a homeless camp in Palma Sola Bay, where tangled canvas tarps and cast nets were retrieved from the trees.

The best part of the day was the camaraderie and laughs shared among friends while making a positive impact on our environment and community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our volunteers and the organizations involved who made this possible. Your contributions underscore the power of collaboration in tackling environmental challenges. We’re rolling into 2025 with renewed energy and plans for even more impactful events. Together, we can restore our shorelines and protect our marine environment for generations to come.

As we close out the year, we wish you a joyful holiday season filled with time spent with family and friends. Your dedication to our cause is what makes these efforts possible. Let’s keep the momentum going together and make waves in 2025!
