Teamwork in Action: Highlights from the Alligator Creek Cleanup

Our marine debris clean-up at Alligator Creek this past Saturday was a huge success!!

41 dedicated volunteers came together, supported by 3 boats, 23 kayaks, and 18 shoreline participants to tackle the debris left behind by the 2024 hurricane season. The day was picture-perfect, with clear skies, calm waters, and a fantastic sense of camaraderie. Volunteers not only made a meaningful impact on the environment but also shared laughter, strengthened friendships, and formed new connections.

Volunteers tackled a significant amount of debris lodged in the mangroves, including a sofa, recliner, multiple dressers, clothing, lattice, dock materials, mattresses, and even propane tanks. Together, we removed an impressive 3,680 pounds of debris from the area!! Wow!

A special thank you to Evelyn Jayne for organizing the plan and bringing together key partners—Sarasota Bay Watch, Suncoast Aquaventures, and the South Venice Yacht Club. It was truly a day of teamwork, purpose, and community spirit!
