Suncoast Reef Rovers South Venice Jetty Cleanup

South Venice Inlet Jetty underwater clean-up: Sunday morning, October 22, 2017. The SunCoast Reef Rovers (Venice Dive Club) is looking for divers and topside individuals to help with this annual clean-up event. All divers entering the water are welcome to attend as long as they are a certified Scuba diver and comfortable diving in low visibility water with debris and sharp objects in the area. It's time for the Sarasota Bay Watch Sister Keys Cleanup! The purpose of the event is to remove trash and debris from Sister Keys, the largest undeveloped islands from Tampa Bay to Charlotte Harbor. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, developers sought to build the Shangri Isle Club on the mangrove islands — complete with a golf course and landing strip for airplanes — and later planned to develop residential homes on the islands.
