Sarasota Bay is a unique treasure land of wild birds and marine animals that offers spectacular fishing opportunities . Loosing some fishing line and gear is inevitable, but now is the time to clean it up. Marine debris cleanup is important to our organization’s mission and we’ve been collecting lost and discarded fishing line and gear 9 years.
Join SBW for our 9th Annual Monofilament Cleanup on Saturday October 6 out of the Sarasota Sailing Squadron. Bring a boat or kayak, or just hoof it on foot to cleanup bridges, mangroves and coastlines. You can even collect debris in an area near you and bring it to the SSS. Afterward, relax at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron and enjoy a lunch and camaraderie while enjoying the waterside view.
Last year our cleanup was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. It’s time to enjoy the beautiful weather and donate a few hours to maintaining our local habitats.
