Sister Keys Cleanup

March 18, 2023 @ 8:00 AM 12:00 PM

This event has been postponed due to the potential for inclement weather. We will post updates to our website as well as Facebook when it is rescheduled. Your safety is our priority. Thanks for understanding!

We’ve been cleaning up Sarasota Bay Watch’s “adopted islands” the Sister Keys since 2009 and invite you to join us in helping to maintain the natural diversity of this beautiful space.

The waters that surround the keys are filled with shallow sea grass beds, one of the most important and productive habitats in Sarasota Bay. These areas are a nursery for many fish including snook, redfish, sea trout and flounder. They provide a home, protection and a food source for countless other species like shrimp, crabs, oysters, scallops and even manatees.

We are seeking volunteers to help with the cleanup as well as captains to transport volunteers to and from the Sister Keys. You may also bring your own kayak and transport yourself! Complimentary lunch will be provided after the cleanup around 11:30 a.m. at the Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant*. We have space at the restaurant until 12 p.m.

*Limited to the first 40 signups

You will need to have heavy shoes/boots- NO OPEN-TOED SHOES allowed.  Clothes that protect legs and arms is recommended.  Bring a water bottle and sunscreen. We will provide gloves and bags.

For Questions please contact Ronda Ryan at (941) 232-2363.
